Torrumbarry Fire Brigade is a volunteer brigade with approximately twenty five active firefighters and a number of non-operational support staff.
A new fire station was opened in XXXX providing the district with a modern and highly functional facility for this active brigade. This has allowed a significant increase in the capacity of the brigade to provide on-site training to its members. The station also offers meeting space for community groups like the Patho Cemetery Trust.
The brigade has a history of strong and continued service from volunteers and currently boasts active firefighters who have accumulated upwards of 30-40 year’s service. Keen to supplement this vast experience, the brigade encourages interest from community members who are willing to commit to the significant training requirements of an operational firefighter. Many current volunteers are connected to the BART emergency information system which enables more efficient response times.
Local landholders are encouraged to commit to pre-season fire plans and clean up to protect their property and livestock. Proclaimed fire season information can be obtained from www.cfa.vic.gov.au
